Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition, she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was reelected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California, from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. In the news, attention was paid to her outspoken examination of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
